The next morning (with my 14 week pregnant wife) I headed out to get the tool and spark plugs I needed and off to fix the Stratus. When we got to our car, I popped the hood and immediately realized that I had forgotten the spark plug wire at home. Thankfully, there were a bunch of stores nearby, so I stopped at Lowe's to ask where the nearest auto parts store was located. Before I got out of our car, I realized Alicia would want to wait in the car. So, as I attempted to put the key back into the ignition slot, THE KEY SNAPPED IN HALF! I have never had that happen before (Keep in mind, Alicia is 14 weeks pregnant, tired from a long week and weekend, not feeling well, and hungry).
So, I proceeded into Lowe's (with both pieces of my key) to see if they could cut me a new one. They couldn't, of course. But, it really turned out to be a blessing that our key broke there. I talked to the lady there about the mess I was in (I guess I just needed to talk to someone about it). She offered to give me a ride, on her lunch break, to O'reilly Auto Parts and Westlake Hardware (because they have a manual key cutting machine). So, I was able to get a new spark plug and a new key!
After picking up Alicia from Target (she stayed there while I took care of the key, which was good, because she LOVES Target), we were off to fix the Stratus. We got it fixed (or so I thought) and headed back to Lawrence.
