Car Problems Part 3

A few days later, Alicia and I had to head back up to Nebraska for my grandma's funeral. About 30 minutes after leaving Lawrence, we heard the pop under the hood again and the car started shaking. This time I was prepared with the tools and spark plugs. But, this time, the spark plug wouldn't screw back in. The entire "spark plug head" (if that's what you call it) needed to be repaired.

We had the car towed to the nearest town, called someone to pick us up and take us back to Lawrence, and we headed out again in our '89 Buick LeSabre. We were getting used to taking risks, so we decided to rely on the Buick, even though it took a few minutes to start. We made it fine and returned to Lawrence a few days later.

Then, the mechanic called and informed me that the repair would add up to approximately $1,400!

So now, we are suddenly relying on an '89 Buick and need two cars before the Buick tanks. We are planning on buying Alicia's parent's van eventually, which will be great for having a baby! I think it's a good story, and all we could do in the midst of it was laugh and continue to trust the Lord, even as one thing after another would happen. So, we would really appreciate your prayers that God would provide affordable/reliable cars to meet our needs. We have seen God provide in so many ways in just the last week. He always provided someone to help us when we needed it. Everyone from Rob to the lady at Lowe's was always there right when we really needed somebody to help us.

We have also been blessed through our family. My brother and his wife offered their car for a week they were out of town. And, Alicia's parents are allowing us to borrow their mini van as well. It is a blessing to have family looking out for us and helping to alleviate much of the stress.

So glad you two made it ok and survived the car troubles! This will be a story to look back and laugh at in the years to come....although not so funny in the midst of it. We're hopeful you'll find another great vehicle along with the van and trust the Lord to provide. Thanks for sharing the story!
