Hanging On

It has been nearly 7 weeks since Wyatt was born. He continues to grow (currently 4 lbs 13 oz.) and develop well. It has been a busy couple weeks for him as he has been learning to eat on his own. At this point, the main factors for his homecoming are taking all of his feedings on his own and his breathing. His breathing is fine, but his heart rate does drop down occasionally, which is to be expected with preemies, but something that he should be growing out of soon. He has developed so much in this area in the last couple weeks.

In other news, I joined Wyatt in the hospital for a couple hours last Thursday night. After dropping a large vase in our kitchen, Alicia took me into the E.R. to get stitches in both hands and my right knee (huge thanks to my sister Keri for rushing over to stay with Jack late at night). While I was getting stitched up, Alicia went upstairs to see Wyatt - worked out pretty well.

I will have the stitches in until Monday, but this has caused a lot of extra work for Alicia. My right hand is very much useless for the time being, so I am not able to do the practical things to take care of Jack. She has been working extra hard to get the 3 of us ready at home and going to be with Wyatt- and sometimes coming home just to change Jack's diaper and put him to bed, before heading back to the hospital. She has served us well!

That is quick update on our lives. We are looking forward to moving out of this brief stage in our lives, but so thankful for how gracious God has been through it all.
