Wyatt Hudson

On February 8th Alicia went in for a regular pregnancy checkup. Turns out there was nothing "regular" about it. She called to let me know that they were admitting her into the hospital. She was at risk of a stroke due to very high blood pressure. The next day they diagnosed her with severe preeclampsia. We didn't know what this all meant but soon realized that she would have to deliver our baby in a matter of days. It became a balancing act of trying to keep the baby in as long as possible, without risking his or Alicia's health.

The doctors decided to deliver on Saturday (Feb 12th) morning. Wyatt Hudson was born at 28 weeks weighing 2 lbs 9 oz. It was obviously such a scary time because of the unknown and risks involved. But God has been so gracious and we are so thankful that He has allowed Wyatt to do so well. We have received nothing but positive reports from the NICU doctors.

Alicia continues to recover from her preeclampsia and it could take up to 12 weeks for her full recovery. Since she had such a severe case, her recovery will probably be on the longer side. But, there are no permanent effects and she is feeling much better physically. They will just continue to monitor her blood pressure until it comes back down to normal.

It has all been such a whirlwind and it's hard to believe that little Wyatt is already here. Can't wait to bring him home!
