Men's and Women's Retreat

One of the last big events of the Summer Project was a Men's and Women's retreat. The men went to a camp about 45 minutes east of San Diego and our time consisted of hiking, grilling ribs, eating smores, camping overnight, and some wrestling of course. Dan Allan, the project director, also gave the final talks of a series we have been going through called "Authentic Manhood". Every week leading up to the retreat, we heard from Dan about how to be an authentic man. An authentic man is one who rejects passivity, accepts responsibility, leads courageously, and expects the greater reward (God's reward).

We had to have a manly dinner for the men's retreat.

The day the men returned from their retreat, we took off for ours. I am definitely not a camper, so this weekend was a challenge for me. It was a great time to connect as women and learn how to be there for one another. We heard from Holly Allan, one of the project directors, about how to be a "Woman of Excellence". A woman of excellence is one who walks in purity, seeks wisdom, accepts instruction, speaks truth, and trusts God.

Lindsey Zach, Jen Hepp, and Alicia. Lindsey and Jen are also on staff.

The women did team building activities and later went through an obstacle course.
